Blog post #5-setting

Welcome to my 5th blog post, i will be doing research on the settings commonly found in drama films and shows. I began to brainstorm and think about drama films i have seen in the past and see how the setting adds to the plot and overall value of the film. Setting is more than only the background and where the film is being shot but also can show a character's mental state, emotion or flashbacks. This can have a huge impact on the plot of a film. With the research i have done so far on setting in general and in drama films i have learned that drama films use a wide variety of different settings. Sometimes the setting can be a real physical place, or something imagined, like a dark foggy street to add to the story and make it creepier.

With my research i also found some examples of settings in drama films. In the start of the play hamlet the setting is a creepy dark, foggy, cold night in a castle. These details of a darky foggy cold night add to how the characters will be feeling. This can also help the viewers understand why the characters did their actions and reflect the theme and mood. Having a good setting is very important, just by having the right setting will set the moods and feelings. It will also establish a situation or mood, The most important takeaway from my research is that setting can determine how your film will proceed because it's one of the first thing they will see, while this also adds to feelings and mood of the scene. This is very important especially in drama films because emotions are important in dramas.
