Blog post # 15 - common characters in drama

Welcome to my 15th blog post, this blog will be similar to the blog i made about stereotypes. In this research I'm going to be talking and finding out more of the genre and film sides instead of domestic violence. So, i will be researching what characters are usually found in drama films and what their role adds to the film.  I feel like its most likely going to be similar to the real-life stereotypes with a man/boy having more power than their significant other who is usually a woman. This is how im going to be setting up my characters in the film where the man of a relationship is having all the power and controlling the relationship, but it seems as a perfect relationship to others.

With my research i found that films usually have similar characters even with different genres. With this it really didn't help narrow down the difference in characters throughout different genres. In my film im going to have protagonist, antagonist, and someone the protagonist can reach out to. Im not sure if this the exact way i want my characters to be set up in my film but this is what i have thought of so far. With the research i did gain knowledge on what roles certain characters usually play in films. Like the protagonist the central character who drives the plot forward. They are usually complex, relatable, and undergo significant change or growth throughout the story. With this knowledge it gave me a better understand of how i should have me characters in the film and what traits they should have.
